Journal 4 Angela de Hoyos and Langston Hughes
Requirements: 1 page journal, 3 underlined vocabulary words, 3 quotes (with lines #, poem included).
Compare the speakers's declaration of his own beauty in Hughes's "I, Too" with the opening verses of Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself." How are the two speakers alike/different?
Angela de Hoyo's speaker in "To Walt Whitman" offers a challenge to Whitman. What would de Hoyos like to have added to or changed about Whitman's portrayal of America?
I recommend organizing your journal with an INTRO, 2 body paragraphs (one for each question) and a conclusion.
